Specialiser sprints to January glory

Published: 08/02/2016

There was a new name at the head of the Toptipsters table at the end of January with Sprint Specialiser claiming the monthly crown was a hugely impressive 67 point haul. Arriving midway through the month, success was immediate: 16 selections yielded four winners, including 10/1 advice Elusive Ellen (Lingfield, 23 January) as well as strikes at 15/2 and 11/2. There were also a number of profitable each-way punts including a 16/1 second.

Last year's champions, EachWay Accas were again among the winners in January, finishing the month in second spot with a 36.75 point profit. The new year began spectacularly with the success of 25/1 advice Stun Gun at Southwell. Remarkably, the following day Southwell was also the venue of another 25/1 stunner, Speightowns Kid, and once again Each Way Accas money was down. Other big-priced winners included 16/1 Isis Blue (Kempton, 6 January) as well as victors at 10/1, 11/1 and 12/1.

There was another strong showing by Iknowtheloser Premium with a profit of 25.56 earning third place in the January table. With a personal-best strike-rate of 38.84%, this service was in fine fettle, posting winners at prices up to and including 6/1.

Bold Henry, an 8/1 advice, gave Racing Bulletin a winning start to 2016, when scoring at Sandown (2 January), while  8/1 advice Singlefarmpayment gave Peter James a similarly profitable introduction to the new year with victory at Cheltenham (1 January). James joined Toptipsters in July 2015, and has posted profits in five months out of seven, while maintaining a one win in three strike-rate.

Early indications suggest February will be a profitable month. One week in, Sprint Specialiser (9.75 points) lead the way from Home Straight (8.50 points and 50% strike-rate) and Colwyn Racing (7.19 points and a 67% strike-rate).
