Pinpoint continue to show the way

Published: 09/02/2020

Pinpoint, who made such an impression when finishing second in last year’s Toptipster Challenge, began this year with an 18.55-point yield. In what was otherwise a quiet month, this return was enough to take top spot in the January table.

Another freshman, The Numbers, claimed second position (-3.75 points) with The Tipsterr League third (-11.90).

Remarkably, Pinpoint entered the final day of January well down the field – and looked to be facing a losing month. But three winners from four selections turned a 17.95-point deficit into a sensational 18.55-point yield. The three winners in questions were El Ghazwani, winner of a 10-furlong handicap at Lingfield at 9/4; Subliminal, successful at rewarding odds of 9/1 an hour later at the same course; and Star Cracker, who won under floodlights at Newcastle at 8s.

Prior to this turnaround, Pinpoint had experienced an up and down kind of month with plenty of winners, but several cold spells. Nevertheless, for much of the month, the service boasted a profit, before temporarily slipping into arrears on 25 January.

Other noteworthy winners during January included 7/1 Crazy Spin (Southwell, 15 January) and Holiday Magic (9/2, Lingfield, 11 January).

January’s profit, followed similar positive returns in November and December.

Will To Win (11/10, Wolverhampton, 6 January) was successful for The Numbers, while The Tipsterr League enjoyed a bumper day at Chelmsford City on 2 January, securing three winners: Brigand (10/1), Que Quieres (9/1) and Al Maysan (7/2). That totted up to a 38-point return. With the exception of Billy Oakes, (10/1, Wolverhampton, 6 January), subsequent results were not so impressive.
