Early Price Profits and Sprint Specialiser's thrilling battle

Published: 06/10/2017

September’s Toptipster challenge produced a thrilling battle for supremacy between Early Price Profits and Sprint Specialiser, with victory going to Early Price Profits by a margin of less than seven points. Their monthly tally, 74.93 points, ensured a third monthly crown of 2017 and sees them well placed to win the overall 2017 Toptipsters title. A nine-month yield of 431.09 points gives them a commanding lead over second placed Under The Radar (272.54 points) with Sprint Specialiser third on 230.03 points and Sandbets fourth (196.69 points).

The success of Early Price Profits was hard earned. The month began badly and by 10 September the balance column showed a loss of almost 23 points. But the victory of 12/1 advice Lord E (Fontwell) that afternoon supplemented by strikes at 8/1 and 11/1 turned the month around. Within four days the balance was healthily in the black reaching 42.65 points by 20th and 83.04 points by the 25th. Winners included 14/1 East Coast Lady (Leicester, 25 September) and a trio of 12/1 advices, Bazooka (Ffos Las, 17 September), Titchy Digits (Leicester, 25 September) and 12/1 Koeman (Kempton, 27 September).

It was a similar story with Sprint Specialiser. A slow start (17-point loss after two days) but then a steady recovery, helped along the way by a brace of 14/1 winning selections, Mullionheir (Ascot, 8 September) and Somewhere Secret (Doncaster, 13 September). By the halfway point, Sprint Specialiser’s profit was 83 points, before a slight fall-back towards the end of the month. Nevertheless, a 67.25-point profit represented a fine effort in what, for others, proved to be a testing month.

Sandbets and Foresight were engaged in their own private race for third place. Sandbets just edged it with a 44.09-point September profit, their fifth winning month out of six. The victory of Western Duke, a 17/1 advice, at Kempton on 8 September was the highlight of a number of pleasing successes which earned Sandbets a 48% return on investment (ROI).

Foresight, despite losing out on third position in the September table, maintained a near 50% strike-rate and ended up registering a staggering 92.59% ROI, based on 29 September bets.

In their second month with Toptisters, Weekly Winners were indeed among the winners. A 7.2-point yield was a worthy effort during a month when bad weather made of a mockery of the form-book. One impressive facet of Weekly Winners record is the high level of selections finishing in the first three: 38 out of 58 (66%).

Under the Radar, winners of the January and May monthly titles, posted a small 3.07 profit, while Tipster Pro and Tony Mc Racing also got through the month unscathed.
